The Capacity Building component under PMFME Scheme aims at providing training for the following categories of persons: -

  • Individual micro-food processing enterprises with credit linked grant under the Scheme;
  • Individual existing micro-food processing enterprises that are not taking loan under the Scheme;
  • Workers of micro-food processing enterprises and groups, such as SHGs/FPOs/Cooperatives;
  • Members of SHGs/FPOs/Cooperatives that are engaged in food processing activities;
  • Government officials and other resources person engaged in the implementation of the PMFME Scheme- Training of Orientation of the Scheme.

The Framework of training would be as following:

Entrepreneurship Development Skilling (EDP+) program modified to meet the requirement of the food processing industry.

Some of the important features of such ED Program (EDP+) are as under:

  • To impart knowledge on identification of business opportunities and preparation of business plan
  • Familiarization on procedure and formalities of setting of an enterprise including Registration
  • Develop skills on management of a unit including their finance, regulatory & statuary requirements
  • Hygiene, FSSAI standards, Weights & Measures Regulation and Registration etc. issues specific to food processing sector

Product Specific Skilling

This consists of the training in the following food sub sectors

  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Dairy
  • Grain
  • Bakery
  • Spices and plantation crops
  • Fats and oil seeds
  • Fish and marine
  • Minor forest product
  • Meat and poultry

Some of the important features of such Product Specific Skilling are as under:

  • Profile of products under the group, procurement and quality standards complementary products, by-products and their use
  • Profile of processing technology, overview of machinery, their costing and sourcing
  • Different types of packaging, scientific storage, shelf life and food handling
  • Product quality & safety requirements as per the national & international standards
  • Appreciation of the importance of quality of products in value addition, branding and marketing

 

Three-level of training would be conducted under the Scheme:

  1. Master Trainers- EDP & product specific trainers would be nominated by SNA and the Training would be conducted at IIFPT & NIFTEM;
  2. District Level Trainers- Each district to have a minimum of two trainers, one for EDP+ and one for ODOP/ product specific training;
  3. Beneficiaries- Individuals entrepreneurs and Groups of existing and new entrepreneurs who are involved in food processing at micro level. Leading to their formalization, up-gradation & scaling.

In addition to this Workers’ Training for Skilling, Safety and Hygiene, plant safety, etc. will also be imparted.

 

Modes of Delivery

The training would be delivered in following modes

  • Classroom Lecture & Demonstration
  • Live Classes (online)
  • Self-Paced Online Learning Material

Mode of Training

  • Online modules would be used for the general training applicable to all Units;
  • Product specific training would be provided for the districts for ODOP using RSETI physical infrastructure to the extent possible

Assessment and Certification Mechanism

  • Formal assessment of all the trainees will be conducted & Certificate of Training would be issued to trainees.
  • The certificate will add to the experience and qualification of trainee which in turn would be useful in availing bank loans by entrepreneurs, increase the chances of employment of floor workers
